SECOND TRIP

My 2nd trip, May 2012, was to assess our future home for the girls and volunteer my time to assist another organization with their medical mission work. As an RN who speaks both creole and English fluently my services are greatly needed. That is when I met baby Emmanuela and Baby Louis; unfortunately baby Louis was under our care for only 1 month and passed away due to complications of malnourishment. When I found him he was severely malnourished, dehydrated and with a temperature of 103.0, he was born March 14th 2012 and weighed only 4.2 lbs. after 12 weeks, I rushed him to the hospital where he was hospitalized for one week. His mother’s breast milk dried out, they were feeding him sugar water or baby formula when they could buy it, only one scoop of milk per 8 oz. of water per day.. I took the responsible because I could not let him die, but I was too late. Even though I put him in the hospital for one week and continue caring for him, his internal organs were already destroyed due to malnourishment. We had a proper funeral for him, he would have been one year old this March on March 14th. Then our Baby girl, Emmanuela, her mother is mentally ill, her aunt was trying to care for her, by feeding her a special dish green banana pudding. She is currently under her aunts care, we continue to supply her with clothing, formula and food, her birthday is 12/25/2011 SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA second mission trip (33) second mission trip (31) second mission trip (36) second mission trip (35) second mission trip (34) second mission trip (22) second mission trip (19) second mission trip (6) second mission trip (10) SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA SANYO DIGITAL CAMERA
